Obituary for Jacob Kendrick Gould

Jacob K. Gould, 16, a resident of the Port Road and an enthusiastic supporter of the Kennebunk High School Football team, died Monday afternoon at his residence after battling Duchenne, a specific form of Muscular Dystrophy.

Jacob was born May 12, 1997 in Long Branch, NJ, the son of Michael W. and Kimberly R. Wampler Gould, and was a sophomore at Kennebunk High School. While being a student there wasn’t “his thing”, he loved the social life, going to dances and athletic events, especially sitting in the end zone, watching the Kennebunk High Rams play football. It was the tradition of the team, from Coach Rafferty down, to rub his head for good luck as they came onto the field for the second half.

For Jacob there was nothing better than being surrounded by his family watching the Patriots play football with pizza bites and “Dads nachos”. Jacob was the family Kitchen Table Uno Champion, he loved playing video games especially Wrestling and Madden Football (what else would it be?). His all time favorite thing to do was go down to his mom-moms with his best friend (nephew) Gavin and watch WWE wrestling “GO JOHN CENA” never give up the motto Jacob lived by. We can’t forget to mention his right hand man, the man who never wanted to leave his side, who moved up from New Jersey just to be near him, was his Pop-Pop (Kendrick Wampler).

When he was able, he could be found walking his huskies Scooby Doo, Luna, Brady, Bear and Cena, which gave him an opportunity to meet and make more new friends.

Survivors include his parents Michael and Kimberly Gould of Kennebunk, Maternal grandparents Kendrick and Jannette Wampler of Kennebunk, Paternal grandmother Elaine Baum Gould of Oakhurst, NJ and Kennebunk, two brothers 1st Staff Sgt Michael W. Gould Jr. and his wife Kayla of Great Falls, MT. and Daniel Gould of Kennebunk, a sister Samantha R. Gould of Kennebunk, two nephews Gavin and Owen and a niece Sarah, his uncle Robert Gould Jr. of Oakhurst, NJ, aunt Wendy Gould of Fort Wayne, IN, Uncle Keith and Aunt Judy Wampler of Winder GA, and Godparents Uncle David and Aunt Mary Levie of Neptune, NJ and several cousins.

Visiting hours will be held 1-3PM and 6-8PM Thursday, January 9 at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St. Kennebunk. A celebration of Jacob’s life will be held 11 AM Friday at the Holy Spirit Parish, St. Martha's Church, Portland Rd. Kennebunk. A gathering will follow at the parish hall.
